Advice on how to Get More Backlinks

Getting more backlinks was something that I have been curious about for  years now.  However, I just never put in the time that was needed to understand that aspect of web design.  I liked the design, but knew very little past that.  I think that getting the information would have been something that was helpful if I started years ago.  But now I have handed all of that work off to my little brother who has started taking over the web info stuff at our place of business. It’s better that he gets into that stuff now while he is still young.
