You will be greeted by one of our friendly, caring, qualified Sonographers who preform cardiac-ultrasound.
They will take you to your room and answer any questions you may have regarding your echo.
Be prepared to spend 45 minutes at the hospital.
There is no preparation needed for this test.
You will be asked to lie on a bed and the Sonographer places a transducer (a device that looks similar to a computer mouse) over the chest wall. The transducer is moved back and forth across the chest wall, collecting several “views” of the heart. A Vaseline-like gel is applied to the chest to aid in sliding the transducer back and forth.
The machine is equipped with speakers so you can expect to hear computer generated sounds of the heart – this is a normal part of the study.
